Out to support friends who ran this Lakeland classic super long race. Headed up to Haycock where Mark and I were happy to engage in a little impromptu marshalling before jogging back along the race route. Great day out in the Lakes, but a little warm for those completing the full route of 23 miles and 7,350ft of climbing.

A seat in the shade
Bluebells are very late this year
To the start
Keswick ladies out in force
and they’re off – first checkpoint dead ahead on the summit of Great Bourne
Mark and I took the lakeside path before climbing onto Haycock summit before heading back along the race route
Ennerdale Water is a favourite spot for many families
It wasn’t long before the first man came over Haycock summit, some way ahead of anyone else, Oli held the lead to the end – great run.
Race winner Oli Johnson on Haycock summit – in the far distance you can see Pillar summit the previous checkpoint in the race
Most of the the race route summits
